A Voss and Pike Casefile: The First Case
Section 14: Dr Wren Halvorsen
Halvorsen's office looked like it belonged to someone who'd stopped unpacking some time ago - boxes of fieldwork transcripts stacked against a wall, a kettle that hadn't been used in days. She looked up at you with the specific exhaustion of someone who has recently learned something she cannot unknow.
"Eight months in Dockside," she said. "Cups of tea in front rooms, kids' names I still remember, trust I was genuinely careful with. I thought I was helping this city understand itself better." She laughed, without much humour in it. "Desmond showed me the output two weeks ago. My interviews, my notes, my care, turned into a street-by-street map for deciding who gets watched."
